Social Justice Philanthropy
Social justice philanthropy is the practice of contributing
philanthropic resources – time, talent, and treasure – towards the
goal of a just society which gives individuals and groups fair
treatment and a just share of the benefits of society. The goal is to
improve the functioning of society’s public systems and private
markets such that all groups have equally fair access and equally fair
chances of making successful progress in their lives.
Using Philanthropy to Achieve Social Justice
As seen in this project, social justice philanthropy
can help achieve racial equity and social justice by investing in
efforts that seek to close the gaps or disparities in how well our
systems and markets work for different groups. Our pathways to progress present
opportunities for investment, promising practices, and examples of
practitioner sites.
